Garry Marshall announced that he has Princess Diaries 3 in the works with Anne Hathaway and Julie Andrews. We both have a slight obsession over the news and are patiently waiting for more details. So, we decided to discuss what we would like to see if Princess Mia decided to grace us on the big screen.
Ivanna: Is Mia still with Nicholas?
Kelsey: Did they end up together though? I didn't think so after he revoked his claim to the throne and she became a solo queen. I feel like they kind of went separate ways after that but they would be good for a "one that got away" type of plot. 10+ years later, Mia's still going strong as queen but Nicholas went and got married. They randomly meet, catch up, realize they still have feelings AND BOOM BACK IN BUSINESS
Ivanna: I think they do end up together after. I feel like they probably just had a late wedding after Mia's coronation. Then they started having kids or one kid. I can see them with one kid- a girl. The new one can be about them parenting and the daughter getting exposed to Mia's old life in San Francisco. Nicholas has to be there. I might be slightly biased due to my obsession with Chris Pine though.
Kelsey: I love Chris Pine. If he's not in it, I'd be really bummed. Okay, next question...What have Clarisse and Joe been up to since getting married?
Ivanna: I bet they are just vacationing on some remote island. They are both retired now, so they can do what they please. Plus, Clarisse and Joe have never gotten actual private time together because of their positions. So, I can see them milking that as much as possible.
Kelsey: I like the idea of them on a remote island. I can see them drinking pina coladas a lot. Clarisse occasionally calls Charlotte out of habit and checks in to see how she's doing in Parliament, calls Mia, calls Helen and maybe even Lilly because why not.
Ivanna: Yea, I feel like Julie Andrews is only good for a cameo right now.
Next question...
SO the director wants to go back to Genovia... What would be the ideal setting to see?
Kelsey: Hm, I did like San Francisco...but it's been covered a lot by the previous films. I don't know of a main setting for the film to revolve around but I wonder how Genovia is received by the rest of the world and learning more about why those perceptions exist. Does anyone even know about Genovia, besides its pears?
Ivanna: True. I would like to see Genovia more but I would love to see how Nicholas and the rest of the Genovia gang interact with the rest of the world, especially San Fran. It would be good to get a balance of both.
Kelsey: DID YOU KNOW SHONDA RHIMES HELPED WRITE THIS!? (BECAUSE I DIDN'T)
*Correction, she helped write the second film
Ivanna: Well, Shonda is basically my idol, so yes. Prior to my obsession with Grey Anatomy (beginning in summer 2015) no. I would love to see her work on the third film because she has grown so much as a writer since 2004. I doubt she will though because she already has four shows and like three (estimated guess) in development.
Kelsey: I love that she was a part of this. Although, I'm only knowledgeable about her work as far as being a fan of "How To Get Away With Murder," I love her style and hope she is on board for the next installment. I hope it has the same wonderful feel of PD2.
Garry Marshall sadly passed away this July. Making this film would be a great way to honor his memory-- by finishing a project he was clearly excited about. We're excited and you better be too. Until we get more details, enjoy this montage from the first movie that stole our hearts.
