Another Dance Show Could Lead To Another Epic Fail

After their epic performances on Spike TV's Lip Sync Battle, Jenna Dewan-Tatum and Channing Tatum have recently signed on to produce a dance competition show for NBC. Their hilarious and entertaining performances catapulted the couple's popularity and they quickly surged to becoming one of America’s favorite celeb couples.

I don’t know if I should be happy or sad about this. I love them. They are awesome. I knew they were meant to be since Channing lifted Jenna up in his audition scene in Step Up. If you haven’t seen it, watch it because that is where the love begins to blossom.

Okay, enough about their love life. Dance shows have always been really popular. People have been watching people dance on TV since the 1971 release of Soul Train, but, recently, dance competition shows have been struggling during primetime. They have their formats, which others constantly attempt to copy and fail. The only exception that could be considered is Dancing with the Stars, which is currently on its 23rd season. So You Think You Can Dance is barely hanging on to its slot while attempting new concepts every season.

Quest Crew from America's Best Dance Crew

America’s Best Dance Crew, Stepping Out, and Live to Dance have all faded away. They all start to blend together with the same boring concept. Hopefully, the Tatum’s new show does something different otherwise it will be short-lived like majority of them (unless they want to create another Dance Moms' like show, but that is a whole other conversation to have).

Here are three ideas that the show could borrow:

  1. An above-30 dance competition: this age bracket is always ignored but, hey, they have moves too

  2. Recreating epic dance moments: have fans come up with routines that recreate historical dance moments

  3. Animals: Everybody loves cute dancing animals…might as well make them apart of a winning concept

Jenna and Channing both started their careers as dancers, so maybe they know how to produce quality dance content. I guess, we will just have to wait and see what they do.

What would you like to see in Jenna Dewan Tatum’s new dance show? I want to hear your ideas.
